Kazerne BV

Responsible for the commercial (catering) exploitation of the premises with the purpose of generating income to fund a programme of events. Shareholder: Kazerne Foundation. Founders: Annemoon Geurts and Koen Rijnbeek, directors.

The chairman of the Heritage foundation is Bert van der Els. The chairman of the Creative Suites Foundation is Maarten Houben, Mayor of Nuenen. Board members are Otto Dieleman, tax specialist (partner at BDO) and chairman of, among other things, the Park Theatre (Parktheater), and Bertus Borgers, musician and former director of the Rock Academy (Rockacademie). The board is constituted and functions in line with the Cultural Code of Governance. The board members participate in the project in a private capacity.

Kazerne is the initiative of Annemoon Geurts (designer/artist) and Koen Rijnbeek (producer/musician). Together, and under the supervision of the board, they are the directors of the project.

Both founders have a wealth of experience in the organisation of projects and events which have involved the innovative input of the creative industries to develop new perspectives, and which have brought together diverse milieus and networks from economic, cultural and societal sectors. For example, between 2006 and 2013, Kazerne’s founders organized Eat Drink Design, a 10-day pop-up gallery restaurant during the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven. In addition to the general public, the guests included many internationally prominent professionals. The projects Added Value and Signature Snack are two which generated international media interest. Many participants were subsequently taken up by international galleries and producers. And visitors from other economic sectors were more inclined to work with creatives because of the added value they had themselves directly experienced.
